Based on the highly successful US series, Roadtrip Nation Australia is an observational documentary series for SBS and PBS that follows three young Australians, Bruce, Kay and Brynn, on a rugged five-week journey around Australia as they seek to define their own road in life.
Over the course of five thousand kilometers they interview individuals from all walks of life who have forged their own path, to ask how and why they made the choices they did, and what advice they would offer members of their generation at this defining moment.
Filmed over the course of five weeks, traveling south from Brisbane, through Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne and Adelaide, then north through the red centre, this series is as much about the many faces of contemporary Australia as it is about a generation at a cross-roads, seeking mentors who will help them to define their own paths.
“Define your own road in life instead of travelling down somebody else’s. Listen to yourself. Your road is the open road. Find it.”
Mike Marriner, Brian Mcallister and Nathan Gebhard – the original roadtrippers. 2001
